Assignment 7
OK for this assignment I interviewed a couple that were marriage experts..my parents. They have been happily married for 25 years and like all couples they say marriage is not easy and it takes lots of hard work. They started going out at the age of 17 and married four years later. I asked them what has been the hardest thing about marriage and my dad said that it was becoming one. What he means is that the choices they make have to be agreed by both of them because it's not just about him now. My mom says she feels like she's is a team with my dad because they both have to help each other get through the ups and downs. While they both agree marriage is no fairy tale it takes a lot of handwork and dedication for it to work out.
Assignment 6
Stress....I hate it and it always seems to be getting to me. I think the main reason why I get stressed is because I am not good at handling my time. I start my day off by waking up early and then saying to myself "OK today I'm going to do this and this and this" and at the end of the day I didn't complete it. It always seems like there is not enough time. One way I do handle stress is buy listening to music or going out for a 30 min walk just to get my mind straight. I feel that when I'm relaxed I am better able to put together a little agenda and manage my time more wisely. Also, to handle my stress I socialize, sometimes when I'm stressed I become kind of angry for no reason and after I cool down I realize that it wasn't worth it. Hands down though, the best way to handle stress is to manage your time wisely, I find that making a daily agenda the day before really helps.
Assignment 5
For this assignment I decided to interview my grandma. Talking to her was awesome because she does not live in California so I only get to see her once or twice a year. She was born in 1930, and she started off by telling me about her childhood. She told me about how back then life was so different then now without technology. One thing she mentioned was that she enjoys her lifetime because she was able to experience life with and without technology. She also mentioned that today we are to materialistic. This really made me reflect. She said that in her time they didn't waste things like we do now, especially if it still works. "It's harder for you guys to be happy because you all want the latest and greatest" those are her exact words. It left me thinking maybe it is good sometimes to live a more simple life without having to buy the latest electronic all the time.

Kids off drugs
Honestly, it is very difficult to keep kids off drugs especially when they are teenagers in high school and they are exposed to so many negative things. Some things I as a parent would do is first of all inform my kids what drugs are and how they affect the body. Too many times I heard people tell me "drugs are bad" but I always wondered why. Another thing I would do is create a good trustworthy relationship with my kid. Also if parents are supportive of their children it is less likely that the kids will turn to drugs.

Love Language
After taking the Love Language quiz, I scored the highest on "Words of Affirmation." I am somewhat surprised because I thought I was going to score the highest on "Quality time" which ended up being my second highest score. I believe I am the person that does enjoy a one on one conversation and I believe communication is very important. My second highest score was quality time which is no surprise to me because I love relaxing and just spending time with my friends and family which in a way has had a great influence on my life.

Before seeing the film Food Inc. I had no idea where the food I was eating came from. I was like most people out there, I would simply go to the supermarket and bought what I needed without even wondering where all these items came from. After watching the film I realized how nowadays our foods do not come from traditional family farms. The foods we are eating now come from factory-owned farms where animals are abused, forced to live in tight spaces, and genetically engineered to grow at a faster rate. These factory owned farms and GMO's have allowed our food products to feed a larger population and for prices to be cheaper. For example, it is cheaper to buy a meal from the dollar menu than to purchase fruits and vegetable at a supermarket. Unfortunately families with financial problems really do not have a choice. Food from the dollar menu may be cheaper but it may be more expensive in the long run. Also, how much quality can you expect from a $1 hamburger at a fast food place?
